Fiorentina Coach Puzzled by Players’ Injuries
Italian Serie A side Fiorentina’s coach Vincenzo Italiano has expressed his bewilderment at the spate of injuries that have hit his squad this season.
The Florence-based club has been without a number of key players in recent weeks, including striker Dusan Vlahovic, midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli, and defender Nikola Milenkovic.
Speaking to the media after Fiorentina’s 2-0 defeat to Inter Milan on Sunday, Italiano said: “I’m very puzzled by the number of injuries we’ve had this season. We’ve had a lot of players out with muscle problems, and it’s really frustrating.”
“We’ve been working hard to try to prevent these injuries, but it seems like we’re just hitting a brick wall at the moment. It’s very frustrating for me, the players, and the fans.”
Fiorentina has been hit by injuries all season. In addition to Vlahovic, Castrovilli, and Milenkovic, the club has also been without Erick Pulgar, Jose Callejon, Lucas Torreira, and Riccardo Saponara at various points.
The injuries have taken their toll on Fiorentina’s performance. The club has won just four of its last 12 Serie A matches and is now 10th in the table.
Italiano added: “We need to find a way to stop these injuries. We need to work with the players to make sure they’re doing everything they can to stay fit. We also need to work with the medical staff to see if there’s anything else we can do.”
“It’s a difficult situation, but we need to find a way to get through it. We need to stick together and support each other. We’ll get through this together.”
