Artem Dovbyk's last-gasp goal gives Serie A newcomers Cremonese historic win over Roma
Cremonese made history on Tuesday as they beat Jose Mourinho's Roma 2-1 in their first Serie A game in 26 years, with Artem Dovbyk scoring a dramatic late winner.
The Ukrainian forward had only been on the pitch for 10 minutes when he headed in the winning goal in the 94th minute, sparking wild celebrations at the Stadio Giovanni Zini.
It was a famous victory for Cremonese, who had not played in Serie A since 1996 and had been tipped for an immediate return to Serie B.
But they showed great spirit and determination to come from behind and beat a Roma side that had won their opening two games of the season.
Roma took the lead in the 71st minute through Paulo Dybala, but Cyriel Dessers equalized for Cremonese just four minutes later.
The game looked to be heading for a draw until Dovbyk popped up with the winner in the dying seconds.
The victory was a major upset and a huge boost for Cremonese, who will now be confident of staying in Serie A this season.
