Norway to provide $118m to Ukraine to maintain F-16s
Norway has pledged $118 million to Ukraine to help maintain its fleet of F-16 fighter jets.
The funding will be used to cover the costs of spare parts, maintenance, and training for Ukrainian pilots and technicians.
Norway's Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram said the funding was part of a broader effort to help Ukraine defend itself against Russia's invasion.
"We are committed to supporting Ukraine in its fight for freedom and democracy," Gram said. "This funding will help ensure that Ukraine can maintain its air force and continue to defend its airspace."
The F-16 is a fourth-generation fighter jet that is considered one of the most advanced in the world.
Ukraine has been operating a fleet of F-16s since 2014, when it acquired them from the United States.
The jets have played a key role in Ukraine's defense against Russia, and have been used to carry out airstrikes against Russian positions.
Norway's funding will help ensure that Ukraine can continue to operate its F-16s and maintain its air superiority against Russia.
