Logashov believes Sergei Pesyakov's departure from Rostov was a mistake
Rostov chairman hopeful of goalkeeper returning in the future
Rostov chairman Valeri Logashov believes the club made a mistake in allowing goalkeeper Sergei Pesyakov to leave in the summer.
The 30-year-old, who was capped twice by Russia, joined Rostov in 2020 and quickly established himself as the club's number one goalkeeper.
However, he left Rostov at the end of last season after his contract expired, and has since joined Turkish club Ankaragucu.
Logashov admits that Rostov made a mistake in letting Pesyakov leave, and he is hopeful that the goalkeeper will return to the club in the future.
"Sergei is a very good goalkeeper," Logashov told RIA Novosti.
"He was one of the best goalkeepers in Russia, and he was our number one goalkeeper."
"We made a mistake in letting him go, and I hope that he will come back to Rostov one day."
Pesyakov has been in impressive form for Ankaragucu this season, and has helped the club to fifth place in the Turkish Super Lig.
He has also been recalled to the Russia squad, and made his first appearance for his country in over two years in a friendly against Tajikistan last month.
