Fiorentina manager baffled by injury crisis
Vincenzo Italiano has expressed his frustration after Fiorentina's injury crisis worsened with the news that Riccardo Sottil could be out for several months.
Sottil, who has been one of Fiorentina's most impressive performers this season, suffered a serious knee injury in training on Thursday. The club has confirmed that he will undergo surgery and is expected to be out for at least three months.
The news is a major blow to Fiorentina, who are already without a number of key players, including Gaetano Castrovilli, Nikola Milenkovic, and Lucas Torreira.
Italiano admitted that he is baffled by the number of injuries his team has suffered this season.
"I don't know what to say anymore," he said. "We've had so many injuries this season, and it's really starting to take its toll.
"I feel for Riccardo, because he's been playing so well for us this season. He's a very important player for us, and we're going to miss him a lot.
"But we have to keep fighting. We have a lot of games coming up, and we need to make sure we're ready for them.
"We're going to have to dig deep and find a way to overcome this adversity."
Fiorentina are currently 10th in Serie A, and they face a tough run of fixtures in the coming weeks, including matches against Atalanta, Juventus, and AC Milan.
