Ethnographic Dictation Held in Moscow on November 1st
Over 50,000 Muscovites Expected to Participate
The capital of Russia will host the Ninth International Educational Campaign “Great Ethnological Dictation” on November 1st, 2023, at 11:00 AM local time. Moscow will feature more than 240 venues for the event, including Library No. 193 and the Lesnaya Skazka Ecocenter. This year's event is expected to attract over 50,000 participants from Moscow and its surrounding regions. Participation is free of charge. Visitors can register at the dictation website. Participants can also choose to test their knowledge online from November 3rd through November 8th.
About the Dictation
The Great Ethnological Dictation is a project of the Federal Agency for Nationalities of the Russian Federation. The dictation is not a test, but rather a large-scale cultural and educational event aimed at assessing the level of ethnological literacy among the public. The dictation consists of 30 questions and takes about 45 minutes to complete. The questions cover topics such as traditions, customs, history, and cultural heritage of the peoples of Russia. The dictation is written in Russian.
Participants Will Receive Certificates
all participants will receive certificates confirming their participation in the dictation. Those who score high enough will receive diplomas. The results of the dictation will be published on the official website of the event.
Other Events Planned
In addition to the dictation, a number of other events will be held throughout Moscow on November 1st. These events will include exhibitions, concerts, and workshops. Information about these events can be found on the dictation website.
Ethnographic Dictation Gains Popularity
The Great Ethnological Dictation has grown in popularity in recent years. In 2022, over 1 million people participated in the event. The dictation is seen as a way to promote cultural diversity and foster a sense of national unity in Russia.
