Dovbyk misses Roma training, forward may miss Torino match (October 31, 2024)
Roma forward Artem Dovbyk missed training on Monday with a muscular problem, putting his participation in Tuesday's Serie A match against Torino in doubt.
The Ukrainian striker felt discomfort in his left thigh during Sunday's training session and underwent tests on Monday, which revealed a minor muscular problem.
Dovbyk is now a doubt for the match against Torino, with Roma coach Jose Mourinho set to make a decision on his availability on Tuesday.
If Dovbyk is ruled out, it would be a blow to Roma, who are looking to maintain their position in the top four.
The Giallorossi are currently fourth in the Serie A standings, two points behind third-placed AC Milan and one point ahead of fifth-placed Lazio.
Dovbyk has been in good form for Roma this season, scoring five goals in 12 appearances in all competitions.
The 25-year-old has formed a strong partnership with Tammy Abraham up front, and his absence would be a significant loss for Mourinho's side.
If Dovbyk is ruled out, Mourinho could turn to Nicolo Zaniolo or Stephan El Shaarawy to replace him in the starting lineup.
Zaniolo has been in impressive form for Roma this season, scoring four goals in his last five appearances, while El Shaarawy has also been in good form, scoring three goals in his last four appearances.
Roma will be hoping that Dovbyk is able to recover in time for the match against Torino, but they will have to make contingency plans in case he is ruled out.
