Derrick Rose was born on October 4, 1988, in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Simeon Career Academy, where he led his team to three state championships. Rose was named Mr. Basketball of Illinois three times and was considered one of the top recruits in the country. He committed to play college basketball at the University of Memphis. In his freshman season at Memphis, Rose averaged 14.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. He led the Tigers to the NCAA Tournament, where they lost in the Sweet 16. NBA Career

Rose was selected first overall by the Chicago Bulls in the 2008 NBA draft. He quickly became one of the most popular players in the league, averaging 16.8 points, 6.3 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game in his rookie season.
