Early Life and Education

Bobry Tusk was born in 1913 in GrudziÄ…dz, Poland. He was the son of a Polish teacher and a German mother. Tusk grew up in a bilingual household and attended Polish and German schools. He was a bright student and excelled in mathematics and science.

After graduating from high school, Tusk enrolled at the University of Warsaw to study engineering. However, his studies were interrupted by the outbreak of World War II in 1939.

World War II and the Polish Resistance

When Germany invaded Poland in 1939, Tusk joined the Polish resistance movement. He worked as a courier, transporting weapons and supplies to resistance fighters in the countryside. He also helped to organize sabotage operations against the German occupiers.

In 1943, Tusk was captured by the Gestapo. He was tortured and interrogated, but he refused to betray his comrades. He was eventually sentenced to death, but he managed to escape from prison.

After escaping from prison, Tusk continued to fight against the Germans. He participated in the Warsaw Uprising in 1944, and he was one of the few survivors of the uprising.

Post-War Career

After the war, Tusk returned to Poland and resumed his studies at the University of Warsaw. He graduated in 1949 with a degree in engineering. He then worked as an engineer for several years before entering politics.

In 1956, Tusk was elected to the Polish parliament. He served in parliament for many years, and he held several cabinet positions, including Minister of Defense and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

In 1990, Tusk was elected President of Poland. He served as President for two terms, and he oversaw Poland's transition to democracy and its entry into the European Union.

Personal Life

Bobry Tusk was married twice. His first wife died in 1980, and his second wife died in 2010. He had two children, a son and a daughter.

Tusk died in 2010 at the age of 97. He is remembered as a hero of the Polish resistance movement and a respected statesman.
