Alex de Minaur seals ATP Finals spot with Basel triumph
De Minaur becomes first Australian to qualify for ATP Finals in 11 years
Nitto ATP Finals to be held from November 13-20 in Turin, Italy
Alex de Minaur has secured his spot at the Nitto ATP Finals after winning the Swiss Indoors Basel title on Sunday. The 23-year-old Australian defeated Andrey Rublev in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 to claim his fifth ATP Tour title. De Minaur is the first Australian to qualify for the ATP Finals since Lleyton Hewitt in 2011.
The Nitto ATP Finals features the top eight singles players and doubles teams on the ATP Tour. The tournament will be held from November 13-20 in Turin, Italy. De Minaur will be making his debut at the event.
"It's an incredible feeling to have qualified for the ATP Finals," De Minaur said. "It's been a goal of mine for a long time, and I'm so happy to have achieved it. I've had a great season so far, and I'm looking forward to competing against the best players in the world in Turin."
De Minaur has had a breakthrough season in 2022. He has won two ATP Tour titles, reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open, and climbed to a career-high ranking of No. 20 in the world.

The Nitto ATP Finals is one of the most prestigious events on the tennis calendar. It features the top eight singles players and doubles teams on the ATP Tour. The tournament is held annually in a different city. Turin will be hosting the event for the first time in 2022.
